Welcome to Disney Jollywood Nights, a glamorous holiday party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where you can dance the night away at curated themed parties, indulge in delicious treats, and add a little magic to your merriment as favorite Characters offer you season's greetings.

Inspiration + early development
Originally, I was leaning heavily into Hollywood art deco inspiration, hints of which are seen above, but this style soon proved to look too high-brow for this kind of an event. Consequently, I shifted towards a colorful yet refined mid-century-inspired direction that also integrates better into the varied theming of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Given that this event would mark a groundbreaking debut for Disney's Hollywood Studios, I crafted numerous logo concepts, each highlighting specific facets of the event to varying degrees. These included elements of music, holiday cheer, and an elegant festivity tailored for a young adult audience. The above logo concepts represent just a fraction of the extensive pool of ideas generated.

After careful consideration, I arrived at this particular version of the Jollywood Nights logo. It draws inspiration from the iconic Hollywood sign and effectively showcases the event's lively nighttime festivities.

I also designed a secondary logo, optimized for improved legibility at smaller sizes, for instances where the background upon which the primary logo is placed could potentially clash with its finer details.

Inspired by 1950s holiday illustrations, I created a color palette for the event’s campaign marketing that consists of vibrant yet sophisticated colors. I intentionally avoided the traditional red/green color scheme associated with Christmas, ensuring its holiday-agnostic appeal for a culturally-diverse audience.

Following the color palette, I crafted paper-textured backgrounds that serve as additional canvases for the placement of logos, copy, and iconography.

In the process of developing additional color options for the event logo, I created strict guidelines outlining permissible combinations of logo and background colors to ensure the logo’s greatest legibility. This system is also intentionally designed to keep those who are visually impaired in mind and passes WCAG 2.0 standards.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating the lively holiday iconography displayed above, drawing inspiration from 1950s holiday illustrations. These icons were designed to serve as additional graphic elements suitable for patterns, wall graphics, and Instagram stickers.

To provide extra enjoyment for the young adult demographic, I developed an additional set of icons featuring alcoholic beverages to be served at Jollywood Nights.
